New appointment to DairyNZ Board
DairyNZ, the industry good organisation for New Zealand's dairy farmers, has appointed former Ministry of Research, Science and Technology Chief Executive Dr Helen Anderson to its Board.
She replaces West Coast farmer and long-term industry director David Milne as one of the three appointed members of the Board, which also comprises five farmer-elected directors.
Chairman Hon John Luxton says the Board is pleased to welcome someone with Dr Anderson's credentials to DairyNZ.
"Helen brings considerable expertise in the research, science and policy areas to the Board with her background as the government's key adviser on science issues for many years, and this will complement the existing strengths of the DairyNZ Board. We look forward to working with her," he says.
Dr Anderson says she's looking forward to joining the Board. "Dairying is crucially important to New Zealand's economy, and it will be good to be part of the Board helping DairyNZ to address the challenges the industry faces," she says.
Mr Luxton says he'd also like to acknowledge the commitment of retiring Director David Milne to the dairy industry.
"David was a member of the review team which recommended the merger of Dexcel and Dairy InSight to create DairyNZ and a founding Director of DairyNZ. He has made a valuable contribution to the Board through the first two years of DairyNZ and this only adds to his involvement with Westland Milk Products and LIC. In addition, he has always been a great advocate for dairying on the West Coast."
Mr Milne says he's very happy with DairyNZ's direction. "I'm pleased with the progress of DairyNZ in bringing forward a new strategic approach to meeting the challenges faced on-farm by the dairy industry."
