Unsurpassed Performance and Grain-Handling Capacity

Simple, innovative design makes the new Massey Ferguson 9005 Series the most productive and efficient combines in their class

Following the introduction of the new, redesigned Class VIII MF9895 combine in 2007, Massey Ferguson is unveiling its all-new, redesigned Class VI and VII combines for 2009.

Closely modelled after the MF9895, the 300hp MF9695 and 350hp MF9795 boast the most productive grain handling system in their class, with the industries longest rotor and fastest unloading system. And, with a standard two-year, header to spreader warranty with no cap on hours, the combines are backed by the most extensive coverage in the business.

"We understand that time is money when harvesting," says Will de Fegely, harvest product manager for AGCO Australia. "This is why we've designed these new combines to work as simply and efficiently as possible."

Using the same grain handling system as the Class VIII combines, the MF9695 and MF9795 gives farmers the fastest unloading rate of any combine available today. Offering a standard 300-bushel grain tank on both models, these combines use only two augers with direct hi-flow unloading providing the fastest and simplest unloading system in the industry.

"No other unloading system has been designed to be so simple - there are very few moving parts," Will says. "The new grain handling system has taken out the need for a vertical auger that exists on most competitive models. Instead a cross auger feeds the high capacity unloader auger."

The redesign of the unloading system created the world's fastest unloading rate, which is 35% faster than the nearest competition. The Direct High Volume (DHV) unloading system has a 4.5 bushel/sec. peak and a 4.0 bushel/sec. average, which is the fastest in the industry by almost a bushel per second. This allows the operator to unload the entire 300-bu. grain tank in less than 75 seconds.

Massey Ferguson's Advanced Technology Rotor (ATR) featured on the MF9005 Series is 3.6m (140") long; making it the longest in the industry, with a diameter of 700mm (27.5") on the Class VI and VII, and 800mm (31.5") on the Class VIII. In addition, the concave wrap is 160° which delivers more complete crop threshing and separation with gentle crop-handling characteristics.

The ATR has further been improved to provide additional threshing capacity, improved grain sample and less drive torque requirements. The high-profile chrome-hardened cylinder bars have been extended forward to immediately start the threshing process utilising the full length of the rotor. The bars are also reversible to ensure long life and reduce maintenance cost.

The high power, hydrostatic rotor drive offers automatic speed control and reversing controlled from the cab resulting in greater efficiency, requiring less horsepower and improving harvest quality through constant rotor speed irrelevant of engine speed.

Engine options on the Class VI and VII combines include a SisuDieselTM Citius 84 CTA engine, Tier 3 diesel that delivers 300 hp with a power bulge of up to 321 hp in the Class VI, and 350 hp with a power bulge of up to 375 hp in the Class VII. The CAT C13 engine, delivering 425 hp and power bulge up to 459hp, is featured in the Class VIII.

The new models also feature a redesigned cab; the largest in the industry. The Comfortech II cab is designed for extreme comfort with increased visibility. Narrow "B" posts help to provide 5.6m2 (61.22 ft) of glass area, while the furthest-reaching lighting system offered standard in the industry, gives an increase of 30.5m (100ft) visibility at night over previous models. In fact the MF9005 Series combines are the only combines featuring eight Hella-High Intensity field working lights as standard.

"The combines are also equipped to handle two remote cameras with video capabilities in the cab. Our new designs are all focused on helping to take stress off the operator," says Will.

The redesigned control centre, using the C2000 ISO-BUS terminal mounted on the command arm, puts all the combine's controls at the operator's fingertips, while auto-steer capabilities are also available with the steering valve supplied standard on all models. The combines are also equipped with the latest technology in record keeping and yield mapping, compatible with all competitive systems.

'The new C2000 ISO-BUS terminal provides a new level of simple operation and flexibility. Operators can program up to 20 different crop settings, and switch between them with the push of a button; automatically changing the rotor speed, concave clearance, wind speed, chaffer and sieve settings, as well as yield and moisture calibration. All they really have to do is change paddocks and go," says Will.

Large service panels, fitted with service lights as standard, make it easy to access the drive systems and engine compartments. The combines feature only 13 major drive belts and three chains, which improve serviceability and reduce downtime.

"We have taken every opportunity to make things easier for the operator by improving efficiency, reducing the number of drives, and eliminating any needless drains on power. We're confident in the quality built into these machines."
